Daejeon: The most boring city in Korea?
Assalamualaikum and hi! ((Waalaikumussalam))
The dumb squad were off to another trip! This time we went to Daejeon also known as the most boring city in Korea. Yasmin's and my buddy were like "Why you guys want to go to Daejeon though?"
It is simply just because we want to meet our UM friends from Seoul. Seoul and Daegu is kinda far from each other so we decided to meet at the middle, which is Daejeon.
We woke very early in the morning, our train at Dongdaegu Station is at 7.15AM. It took 2 hours from Dongdaegu Station to Daejeon Station (the time differs on which train you take though, we take the Mugunghwa Train which is cheaper than KTX).
We arrive at Daejeon Station around 9.00AM. Not long after that we met Mirah, Ida and Yeongtak (Ida's Korean friend who apparently was an exchange student in UM last semester!) Yeongtak is a precious human being though hahaha. He's so cute and nice, he even gave each one of us a little souvenir the moment we met. Being with Tak is so comfortable because he knows about Malaysian culture (he always mention just how much he missed Malaysia especially Malaysian foodzz. Yeah Tak, me too)
Tak wanted to bring us to Skyroad. Too bad the market isn't open yet, the place is so empty! Tak was really taken aback though because its not what he imagine it to be. Then he wanted to bring us to a restaurant to eat breakfast (near the Skyroad), but that also didn't open yet :') Tak was taken aback (again hahaha). Luckily not far from that, there are Sungsimdang Bakery, the most famous bakery in Daejeon. Tak said, people who go to Daejeon often buy bread here to give as souvenir (it is that good). Tak recommended us the fried bread with red bean/sweet potato filling, its the signature bread of the bakery. Meanwhile Tak bought fish roe bread (WHICH IS DAMN GOOD okay).
Next destination, Dunsan Park! In here, there are a few house models from the Neolithic era. Other than that, there's nothing much here actually but the weather is nice when we were there so its a good place to walk around and take pictures.
Next place in list, Hanbat Arboretum! This place is actually huge, I think we didn't cover it all. For those who don't know (like me) "arboretum" is a term used for botanical garden which focused on trees. This place provided bicycle rental services but we decided to just walk (which Ida and Tak regret so much about it hahaha). Tips: Please wear appropriate outfits (pants preferably and comfortable shoes) and bring along your hat especially during sunny weather :)
Then we walk through Expo Bridge to get to Expo Science Park (its just a walking distance) just to know that...the park is under renovation... What a luck hahaha :')
